Hundreds of people participated in a pilgrimage walk'to celebrate culture and history. In Menard people showed up for the dedication of the memorial monument to commemorate the 250th anniversary of the founding of the mission Santa Cruz de San Saba. That led to a massacre and the distruction of the mission. A descendant of a survivor from the massacre was present at the event. Mark wolf/descendant :There's a pride of history now, that transcends the spanish occupation, the native american occupation, we've been able to bring in visitors from all different tribes have been here...All in unity. Following the the dedication ceremony, lunch and refreshments were served along the San Saba river. And mass was held at the sacred heart church in Menard.
