Hundreds of people participated in a pilgrimage walk'to celebrate culture and history. In Menard people showed up for the dedication of the memorial monument to commemorate the 250th anniversary of the founding of the mission Santa Cruz de San Saba.
Bishop Michael Pfeifer along with other church and community leaders say there was a clash of cultures when new people met the natives in the area.
That led to a massacre and the distruction of the mission.
A descendant of a survivor from the massacre was present at the event.
