School Finance Lawsuit

San Angelo school district superintendent Carol Ann Bonds responded to
today's decision on the school finance lawsuit. The ruling followed
three months of testimony.
The ruling followed three months of testimony -- the state district judge in Austin found that the Texas School Funding System violates the state's constitution by not providing enough money and failing to distribute it fairly. Bonds says the ruling is one SAISD administrators had expected.
San Angelo is one of the 600 districts that sue. State attorneys are expected to appeal. If the ruling is upheld -- state lawmakers would have to devise a new funding system.
