The Gathering Church of San Angelo is gathering hundreds of plastic bags seen littering the roadways of San Angelo this weekend.

The church has come together to help make our community a trash free community by joining the bag the bags movement made popular by Austin.

The goal is to reduce the usage of plastic bags by petitioning to the city council to ban all the one-use plastic bags and turn to reusable and recyclable bags.

Karen Schmeltekopf , The Gathering Pastor says "We believe that we are caretakers of the earth, of the universe and we have noticed all the plastic bags so we are bagging the bags, and are cleaning up this part of San Angelo."

If you would like to participate in this movement there is a petition online at the petition site dot com.
