Julie Vrana is the shelter's animal service manager and says people can drop off their cans during regular business hours
"If citizens come by during regular business hours, bring us your cans, and a trash bag and we will be glad to take them."
People who receive some type of government assistance qualify for the program, and will pay just 21 dollars, thats less than half the normal cost.
"It cost the citizen 21 dollars for all three of those combined, and the breakdown is seven for the city tag, four for the rabies and 10 for the surgery, and we pick up the rest of that."
Vrana says spay and neutering pets is vital to their health.
"Definitely spay and neuter your animal, if you spay a female before she reaches her first heat cycle she has a 99 percent chance of not getting breast cancer and the same thing goes with a male dog so they can get the same type of sicknesses that people and so taking care of our pets, spaying and neutering"
And if you don't have any aluminum cans, Vrana says they're also taking monetary donations.
"They can just come to the animal shelter and its check or cash and if they make checks its just to the city of san angelo animal services and if they tell us they want to make it for snap then we will definitely do that."
