During The Texas Legisative Session---The Legislature Passed A Bill That Would Increase The Limit In Small Claims Court. Tom Green County Comissioners Are Now Looking To See How Much More Money Can Be Set Aside To Fund The Courts Increase Of Work Load.
The Amount Of Cases Going Through Small Claims Court In Tom Green County May Double By The End Of The Year.The Texas Legisature Passed A Bill Raising The Limit Of Small Claims From 5-Thousand To 10-Thousand Dollars.
Eddie Howard Justice Of The Peace, Pct. 4: "And Uh, We're Going To Explode. We're Going To Double We Can Very Easily Triple. But If It Does What We Think It's Going To Do. We Will Require Additional Staff."
In Order To Increase Staff Or Meet Up With Other Demands Of More Cases A New Budget Must Be Set For The J-P Courts.

As County Commissioners Work On A Budget Judges Speculate What Will Happen During The Months To Come.

And Those Cases Will Now Becoming To Our Court, And That Just Is just About 1000 Case Just In It Of It Self."
