An unusual weather pattern across the southwest led to our overnight snowfall ''from Lubbock to Fredericksburg'' a light blanket of snow fell across the state and caused some traffic accidents and road closures. Interstate ten was closed following heavy snow between El Paso and FortStockton, but no major problems were reported on state highways and as you know when you woke up this morning.   More than two and a half inches of snow fell at Mathis field.  Lauren Blackwell has reaction from local residents who were enjoying the winter wonderland.

"Oh my gosh it's a little unexpected even thought i heard it on the news."

Gracie Partida -- along with most of the ConchoValley was surprised to see inches of snowfall that had accumulated over night.

According to the national weather service San Angelo saw 2-point-8 eight inches of snow. While places like water valley saw up to six inches.

Dogs were still out walking in the weather and snowmen were being built across town during the early morning hours.

Many residents agree - this whit dusting was much needed.

"Hopefully this will keep coming and we will get some good water around here in San Angelo."

"The river is going down, and you can tell, and you can tell just by looking over there that it's gone down tremendously. So I hope that there is some rainfall behind this or something, but it will help a little bit."

With warmer temperatures in the forecast melting snow will provide much needed runoff for area lakes.

But looking around at the scenery while it is still cold...everyone can agree on one thing.

"The snow looks good here in San Angelo."
