It's two days into the new year January marks National Radon Action Month.
The naturally occurring and odorless gas is radioactive and if left unchecked - could cause lung cancer. It is actually the leading cause of lung cancer for those who do not smoke.
Radon is found in the soil and can seep into homes through cracks in the foundation.
It is recommended by the EPA that every home owner should test their house for the gas.
If the gas is caught early, those levels and health risks associated with radon can be eliminated.
