City and state officials met with area residents today - discussing concerns over Concho River water usage - and the possibility of illegal pumping.
Members of the Texas Commission On Environmental Quality - or TCEQ - alongside city officials - and water rights holders met today with the Concho Water-Master in the Ralph Chase building near downtown.
Water rights holder AJ Jones expressed concern that people may have pumps installed along an easement owned by the city of San Angelo.
Steve Brown - a former city manager - said the city may be leasing that land and people could be pumping water for domestic and livestock use.
TCEQ officials determined they would look into the matter and find out if the land is being leased and if people are pumping without authorization.
If its being used for irrigation - state law requires a meter - that the landowner notify the Watermaster before pumping
