Black Friday began early; Americans came out in droves to catch the earliest black Friday shopping deals ever. Competition from online retailers prompted some big box stores like Toys R Us and Target to kick off their promotions Thursday night. The national retail federation expects holiday sales will rise more than 4 percent this year, below last year's 5 point 6 percent increase. Many would be shoppers are concerned about the looming fiscal cliff...others are still reeling from Superstorm Sandy. Target opened its doors Thursday evening to an estimated 2,000 eager customers. Marcus Officer has the story.
Black Friday fever has spread throughout the
ConchoValley. People waiting in line for hours for the best prices of the season. Shoppers flocked to Target searching for the best sales on products as the energy of this year's crowd seems to be high. "There's a lot of energy and excitement in the crowd for the holiday season." Sales were aplenty from TV's, video games, toys, to domestic items; people had good reason to leave their couches on thanksgiving. "I think it's all about the deals. We have some good specials on toys, electronics, some really good stuff to get up and leave the dinner table for" People like Julian Martinez who are shopping on black Friday for the first time.
Martinez was the first in line at target and had his eyes and wallet set. "I'm actually here for a TV, 32 inch and I'm getting an Xbox too so whoopee woo." Many like
Martinez found what they were looking for and opening black Friday night was a success. "I think the gauge is always on our guests' reactions to us and our guest feedback has been really positive tonight so I'm really thankful for them and really thankful to have them here." "I'd like to come back next year again and buy some more stuff." Marcus Officer, KLST News. Doors opened at
9:00pm Thursday thanksgiving day and won't close until tonight at
11:00pm.
