City council members also gave the go-ahead to increase what it costs San Angelo residents if they need to take a trip in an ambulance.
This is the first time ambulance fees have been raised in San Angelo since 2008. Rates for a non-emergency transfer will go from 220-dollars to about six hundred.
An emergency ambulance ride - that would have cost about five hundred dollars - will now run you about nine hundred.
Medicaid will cover ambulance costs for those enrolled. City Council members say these new rates are comparable to other cities our size. And money made by this rate change will help fund the city's new new and a half million dollar fire training center
