The San Angelo Independent School District hired three new principals and several assistant principals earlier this week. So is the school district heading the direction the school board wants it to? KSANs Jason Calder spoke with Superintendent Dr. Carol Ann Bonds and has more. On Monday, the S.A.I.S.D. announced some changes within the district. Dr. Carol Ann Bonds, S.A.I.S.D. Superintendent, said, "The board approved our administrative recommendation for the hiring of three principals, a new principal at Lake View Matt Smith, Heidi Wierzowiecki is going to Crockett and Laurie Barton is going to Fort Concho." In addition to the new principals, five new assistant principals will be on S.A.I.S.D. campuses to start off the next school year. Dr. Carol Ann Bonds said the moves were made to enhance the district overall. Bonds said, "These particular campuses needed leaders to build on what following leaders have brought to these campuses. We'll always be looking to make sure that every campus stays with the very finest fit and leader possible." Bonds said she's excited about the new hires and what they bring to their respective schools. "To have as many applicants, from the outside as well as inside our district, apply for these positions and the fact that they're such good fits, all we now need to do is just support them as they lead their campuses," she said. So when the school bell rings for the 2007-2008 school year, Dr. Bond says she's ready to go and so is her staff.
